French President Emmanuel Macron has called on Israel to stop killing women and babies in Gaza. Speaking after a humanitarian aid conference in Paris, Macron emphasized the need for a humanitarian pause and a ceasefire to protect civilians who have nothing to do with terrorists. The conference concluded that there is no other solution to the conflict in Gaza. Macron’s statement comes amidst escalating violence and civilian casualties in the region.
According to a report from Israeli news channel ערוץ 13, IDF forces have been engaged in efforts to bring back captives since the beginning of the war. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that the IDF will continue to hold onto the Gaza Strip even after the war.
Additionally, a report from Israeli news outlet גלובס estimates that 50,000 Gazans have descended to the southern strip today alone. French President Emmanuel Macron has also spoken out against the violence, telling BBC in an interview that “there is no justification for these bombings” and that a ceasefire “will be good for Israel.”
At least 1,400 Israelis have been killed and fallen in battle since Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel, including 355 IDF soldiers, 59 Israeli police officers, and 10 Shin Bet agents. Over 5,000 Israelis have been injured since the start of the war, and the Gaza Health Ministry reported over 10,000 Palestinian casualties, including over 4,000 children and 2,000 women.
As violence continues to escalate in the region, it is clear that a ceasefire is needed to protect civilians and bring an end to the conflict. The international community must come together to ensure that a solution is found that is beneficial for all parties involved.
