The UK government is considering the deployment of troops to Gaza to help deliver aid via a new sea route, according to reports from The Independent and The Telegraph. The US has confirmed the construction of a temporary pier to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid, with operations set to begin in early May. The UK is already providing logistical support for the construction, including the deployment of a Royal Navy ship housing US soldiers and sailors. UK military planners have also been embedded in the US and Cyprus, where aid will be screened before shipment to Gaza. While the US military official emphasized that there would be no American troops on the ground, a third party nation would be responsible for driving the delivery trucks along the floating causeway to a secure distribution area onshore. The BBC reported that the UK is considering sending British troops for this task, but no decision has been made yet. The move aims to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, which has been severely affected by recent conflict.
