Millions of Indonesians are heading to the polls today in what is being called the world’s biggest single-day election. Special polling stations have been set up in remote areas to accommodate workers who are unable to travel to their home districts to vote. One worker, Nur Ihsanuddin, expressed his excitement at being able to vote and hopes for a new president who will prioritize the needs of the grassroots. However, some workers who were not registered to vote were rejected at the polling stations.

Foreign survey institutions have predicted the Indonesian presidential election (pilpres). However, it is not about who will win the election among the presidential candidates Anies Baswedan, Prabowo Subianto, and Ganjar Pranowo. The survey is related to how many rounds the pilpres will take. Roy Morgan states that the Indonesian pilpres will take two rounds. Prabowo, who is leading in the survey, only obtains 46% of the votes. Other candidates like Anies Baswedan receive 31% of the votes and are considered favored to secure the second position, as well as the second round, if Prabowo fails to achieve a majority. Meanwhile, Ganjar Pranowo receives 23%. There are 4% of voters in Indonesia who are unable to choose any candidate. Some say they will not vote in this year’s pilpres.
