Pence also mentioned that he has received support from people across various backgrounds for the stand he took during the Capitol attack.
The shooting at Perry High School in Iowa on Thursday morning left one student dead and seven others injured. According to a statement from the principal’s daughter, Claire Marburger, Principal Dan Marburger attempted to divert the attention of the teenage shooter, who was identified as 17-year-old Dylan Butler, so that students could flee. Additionally, four other students and three school staff members were injured. Initially, authorities had reported a total of five injured individuals.

She mentioned that he sustained his injuries while attempting to reason with the shooter. Claire Marburger described her father as a “gentle giant” and an “amazing person” who would be devastated by the events at Perry High School.
Investigators are currently searching for a motive behind the shooting. Marburger’s daughter requested that people share “positive memories” about the school and community, as well as express their well-wishes to the families of the other victims. She also urged individuals to show compassion to the shooter’s family.
