The conflict between Hamas and Israel in Gaza has intensified in the past 24 hours, with nearly 300 Palestinians killed in Israeli airstrikes. Hamas has warned that no captives taken on October 7 will leave Gaza alive unless its demands are met, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called on Hamas to surrender, declaring it the “beginning of the end” for the group. The situation in Gaza is deteriorating rapidly, with the health system on the brink of collapse and severe shortages of food, water, and basic goods.

The US has also renewed its support for Israeli attacks, vetoing a UN Security Council resolution calling for a ceasefire and approving an emergency sale of tank shells to Israel. According to a statement from an IDF spokesperson, Hamas’ statements on prisoner exchange readiness are an example of “psychological terrorism.”

Former US President Donald Trump accused President Joe Biden of being responsible for Hamas’ terrorist attack in Israel. “To every Israeli and American who has been affected by these barbaric acts – we stand with you,” said Trump at the Republican Jewish Coalition conference in Las Vegas, and then pointed a finger of blame at his successor in the White House. “We didn’t have a problem for four years – it’s not rocket science. If you spill a drop of American blood, we will spill liters of your blood.”

According to a Washington Post article by veteran journalist David Ignatius, 43 days into the Iron Sword War, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was close to launching a preemptive attack against Hezbollah in Lebanon. Fortunately, “the voices of cooler heads prevailed.” Ignatius also noted that Israel’s strategy of separating Hamas from civilians and evacuating civilians southward was unrealistic, as Hamas militants were everywhere in the Strip and civilians could not move to safe areas for weeks due to being caught in crossfire.

Israel plans to build a tent city for refugees in Al-Mawasi on the coast near the border with Egypt. This will also allow the entry of humanitarian aid. Ignatius argues that both political and military leaders know that if Israel does not significantly improve its humanitarian efforts, it will harm its relations with the US, Europe, and neighboring countries such as Jordan, Egypt, and possibly other Gulf states like the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

The IDF is aware that its only way to gain more time on the clock is to minimize civilian casualties and provide more humanitarian assistance. Israel is also adopting a tactic similar to what the CIA did during the war in Ukraine, removing secrecy from intelligence information and publishing it to the public.

The conflict in Gaza is intensifying, and the US is standing by Israel in its attacks. The situation in Gaza is dire, and Israel is looking for ways to reduce civilian casualties and provide more humanitarian aid. The future of the conflict remains uncertain, but it is clear that the US and Israel are determined to bring an end to the violence.
