Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk recently held a conversation about artificial intelligence and its implications for humanity at the Tesla facility in Fremont, California. The two discussed the potential dangers of AI, with Netanyahu offering a Jewish perspective on the topic. They also discussed the issue of antisemitism on Musk’s social media platform, X (formerly Twitter).

Netanyahu and Musk began the conversation by jokingly noting that they were actually in the same room, and not watching a deepfake. Musk then asked Netanyahu about the judicial reform in Israel, to which Netanyahu responded by explaining the need for checks and balances in a democracy. He referred to the original judicial legislation proposed by Justice Minister Yariv Levin, saying that he thought it was bad and that he was trying to reach a consensus with the other side.

The two also addressed criticism from Jewish organizations against Musk, claiming that the billionaire removes restrictions on anti-Semitism on his platform. Netanyahu told Musk that he should find a way to stop not only anti-Semitism, but any collective hatred towards a people. Musk responded by saying that he was against attacking any group and that he opposes anything that promotes hatred and conflict.

Protests against Netanyahu took place outside the Tesla plant, where he met with Musk. Deputy Chairman of the World Zionist Organization, Dr. Yizhar Hess, referred to the meeting between Netanyahu and Musk and said that it was “scandalous”.
